This is just outside Nichu as I come into school. The day was cloudy so the leaves are not as clear as I would like, but autumn has crept into the hills around school. Farmers are burning the freezing rice stubble left in their field, and tilling the earth to prepare it for next spring.

The first time...
The first time I saw the title of this photo I read it as, "Off to work on a crispy mom." There was a good thirty or forty seconds of pondering the meaning.
