In the winter, Japanese fashion is really at its best. Layers are the way to go. I love the older lady's outfit with the hat.

I went up and asked these ladies really politely if I could take a picture because their clothes were amazing, and they let me and then insisted I take one with them as well. Then they complimented me on my japanese and all I could say was basically "Oh, I'm not so good but thanks". I really wish I had known some flowery way to back out of a compliment like "Ah, milady is too kind. I am but a humble student of your language". I am so ungallant in Japanese.
